Prof. Yoon Young Kim (Seoul National University, Korea) Title : “Elastic Metamaterials: Unlocking New Frontiers for Wave-based Non-Destructive Testing”
Yoon Young Kim is a Distinguished Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering of Seoul National University, Korea. He received B.S and M.S from Seoul National University, and Ph.D. from Standford University in 1981, 1983, and 1989 respectively. He served as President of the Korean Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2016 and of the Asian Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization from 2016 to 2020. He has been serving as Vice-President of International Society of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization since 2015. His research areas of interest are Elastic Metamaterial, Autonomous Design of Rigid-body Mechanisms, and Thin-walled Beam Theory.

Dr. Jianmin Qu (Stevens Institute of Technology, USA) Title : “Mixing of Nonlinear Waves in Elastic Solids”
Dr. Jianmin Qu joined Stevens Institute of Technology as provost and vice president for academic affairs in September 2021. He is the chief academic officer of the university and is the highest-ranking university official after the president. Dr. Qu’s research focuses on several areas of theoretical and applied mechanics including micromechanics of composites, interfacial fracture and adhesion, fatigue and creep damage in solder alloys, thermomechanical reliability of microelectronic packaging, defects and transport in solids with applications to solid oxide fuel cells and batteries, and ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation of advanced engineering materials.
